PRIVACY SCENARIO “THE REALITY”
ROLES: MAIN CHARACTER, WORKER, CITIZEN, DEALER, WAITRESS, STRANGER 1, STRANGER 2, STRANGER 3
SCENE 1 LOCATION: basic teenage room
a room is shown, a basic teenage room. there is a LILI sitting on her bed and scrolling through the phone. she wanted to change her privacy setting on instagram from private to public but as soon as she clicks on the button she teleports to the future.
SCENE 2 LOCATION: street
she walks down the street and looks confused AF. she walks up to a person and asks what date it is.
LILI
excuse me, what date is it?
STRANGER (BRITT)
it’s 20 november
LILI

STRANGER (BRITT)

LILI was confused AF and she walks away but as soon as she checked her phone, she noticed that it wasn’t working.
SCENE 3 LOCATION: electronic shop
as LILI walks, she realises that her phone isn’t working, she decided to head to the nearest electronic shop.
she confronts the worker by throwing her phone on the table.
WORKER
what can i do for you ma’am.
LILI
can you fix this, it isn’t working.
the worker inspects the phone.
WORKER
uhmm this model is around 30 years old, i’m afraid you need a new one.
grabs for a new phone.
WORKER
this one is nice and cheap, it’s yours for only 200.
LILI gives 200 euros.
WORKER
the phone has facial recognition and a fingerprint scanner, furthermore, all the basic stuff. so you can choose between 3 things, no privacy package for free, the basic privacy package for 5k and the ultime privacy package 10k.
LILI looks confused and counts a bit on her fingers.
LILI
i’ll go with no package.
WORKER
okay so you know the drill, no privacy package will allow your phone to track your eye movement so your phone will know what you like and will show you the perfect advertisements. it will also know your passwords and stuff but don’t worry, that’s only to improve our safety.
LILI wants to say something but fails to interrupt the worker.
WORKER
Your location will be always on so we know where you are in case something happens. and be aware that your searching history, notes and phone conversations are not private and your microphone will be always on. so that we can alert the cops in case you’ll engage in some illegal activities.
WORKER
the list is long so you can read it yourself, i just mailed it to you.
LILI
how do you know my email.?
WORKER
that’s funny.
LILI looks confused
WORKER
oh you’re serious? alright. in case you lived under a rock for the past 20 years, we have cameras hanging in this shop so we know exactly who our customers are because our cameras have the best face recognition possible, this all to improve our service.

LILI walks away.
SCENE 4 LOCATION: STREET
as LILI walks down the street she hears people whisper
STRANGERS (BRITT)
Did you see her picture on ibiza from years ago?
STRANGER 2 (BERBEL)

LILI looks confused and heads to a cafe
she gets a notification on her phone
PHONE
go to the café on the road … you are dehydrated!
SCENE 5 LOCATION: CAFE
WAITER gives the water to MAIN with a smile
WAITER Here’s your water, ma’am.
LILI takes the water and looks confused.
WAITER Ah, I see that you’re confused. Just to be clear, we saw your status. we didn’t stalk you, you’re dehydrated.
WAITER I noticed that you don’t have privacy, please make sure to fix that. also, you should go to the toilet if you must.
SCENE 6 LOCATION: CAFE
LILI walks to the restroom while looking on her phone, because she wasn’t paying any attention she bumped into someone. she directly got message on her phone.

The stranger looks at the main with raised eyebrows
STRANGER
no privacy huh
LILI
nah
STRANGER
me neither, i like it when people know what I need.
SCENE 7 LOCATION: CAFE
LILI sits down at one of the tables. suddenly someone comes up to her.
CITIZEN
good evening miss Tadevosian. why are you feeling so confused today, are you alright?
LILI
how do you know my name?
CITIZEN
I know everything about you, we all do.
LILI
wait, what?! How?!
CITIZEN
i can see everything about you on my phone by scanning your face, you should know that right?
Wanna check it out?
LILI
No, thanks. Could you please tell me why all this is going on? I mean, to every public place I go, people are ‘stalking’ me. Does nobody get tired of that?
CITIZEN
I don’t know I like it. I can literally feel other one’s feelings and thoughts. this way you know what people need and then you know how to help them.
LILI But you don’t even know me! Why do you need my thoughts?
CITIZEN
It’s interesting, i guess.
LILI
sure (sarcastic)

CITIZEN
ohh, I bought my privacy package, the basic one, i mean i don’t have the money to buy the complete one.
LILI
about that, do you know where I can get the privacy package for cheaper? 5k is a lot.
CITIZEN
uhmm yea but it’s not legal, i mean, there are privacy dealers. they can sell you a package for cheaper i guess
LILI
where can i find those ‘dealers’
SCENE 8 LOCATION: FOREST/
DEALER So, you want some privacy, don’t you?
LILI
yess plss i need it so badly.
DEALER Lucky for you you’re at the right place. I’m way cheaper than those privacy shops and you get the same!
The main lightens up and smiles in relieve, finally something cheaper.
LILI
Oh really! That’s nice, how much do i have to pay you?
Dealer gets phone from pocket and swipes on it and gives MAIN a look
DEALER
Oh the privacy packet is 4999 euros, just for you!
MAIN’s eyes grew big in surprise and her mouth flew open.
LILI
4999 euro’s??? That’s not even cheaper than in the shops!
LILI angrily said, folding her hands together. The dealer shrugs.
LILI gets a notification saying
PHONE what you’re doing right now is illegal, please stop before continuing with this.
LILI gets nervous and sighs.
LILI
No, I’m not doing it, sorry.
DEALER alright, your loss..
LILI walks away.
SCENE 9 LOCATION: THE STREET
LILI is angry and walks down the street with an angry expression
LILI
privacy this, privacy that, just stay away from my life!
LILI has had enough and throws the phone on the street
Suddenly LILI started spinning
